NORTHWESTERN LOUISIANA CANCER CENTER CELEBRATES NATIONAL CANCER SURVIVORS DAY
More than 60 Cancer Survivors, family members and caregivers celebrated National Cancer Survivors Day (NCSD) on Saturday, June 4, at the Northwestern Louisiana Cancer Center (NLCC). The celebration included tours of the Northwestern Louisiana Cancer Center, the reading of proclamations declared by Governor Bobby Jindal and Mayor McCullen, hot dogs and desserts.
“Our National Cancer Survivors Day celebration has grown every year as more Northwest Louisiana citizens become aware of the presence of quality cancer care in Natchitoches. Cancer patients no longer need to travel away from home to receive cancer care,” said Dr. Lawrence P. Menache, Radiation Oncologist at the Northwestern Louisiana Cancer Center.
Event attendees, including survivors and caregivers from throughout Northwestern Louisiana, were recognized and honored for their fight against cancer, and were also treated to lunch, courtesy of City Bank, Quest Laboratories, Cancer Support Group and the Northwestern Louisiana Cancer Center.
“Our patients and their caregivers are an inspiration! They face many adversities each day with courage and dignity,” said Dr. Menache.
A special thanks to The American Cancer Society, Northwest LA Affiliate of Susan G. Komen, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Cancer Support Group, Quest Laboratories, and City Bank for attending and/or providing information and supplies to make this day special for the Survivors and their caregivers.
