ONCOLOGICS
FIRST ANNUAL KREWE OF DOCS RAISES OVER $5,300 FOR THE
AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
OncoLogics, Inc., with the support
of a number of local businesses and physicians, sponsored
the first annual Krewe
of Docs, a Mardi Gras themed fundraiser for the American
Cancer Society. The event was coordinated by Kelley Sims McKee,
of OncoLogics in Laurel. McKee and LaDonna Breland
of OncoLogics, are also local co-chairpersons for the American
Cancer Societies' (ACS) Jones County Relay
for Life.
McKee conceived the
event along with Laurel’s The Reserve restaurant creating a Mardi Gras themed night of music and cuisine. The Krewe
of Docs featured local physicians serving as waiters for patrons of the event, who were treated to a Cajun Style buffet and the music of Lafayette Louisiana’s Rosie LeDet and the Zydeco Playboys.

The event raised over $5,300 from
ticket sales, t-shirt sales, a silent auction and a raffle.
All proceeds were donated to the American Cancer Society’s Jones County Relay for Life. The Jones County Relay for Life is scheduled on May 1, 2009, at the Laurel Sportsplex.

Relay For Life is the American
Cancer Society’s signature activity, allowing all members of
the local community an opportunity to participate in the fight
against cancer. Teams of volunteers take part in a relay walking
or running around a designated course. Additional information
