BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS

2009 komen acadiana race for the cure oncologics tent

OncoLogics, Inc. honored Breast Cancer Survivors by hosting a brunch on Sunday, October 25, 2009. The brunch, held in Lafayette at Abacus, included a wonderful menu along with helpful information about exercise, osteoporosis, genetic testing, HPV/Cervical Cancer Vaccine, adult vaccines, and the history of the Pink Ribbon. OncoLogics, Inc. is a leading provider of Radiation Oncology treatment, which owns, operates and/or provides services at 15 locations in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Speakers for Sunday’s event included M. Maitland DeLand, M.D., FACR, FACRO, FASLMS, President and C.E.O. of OncoLogics, Evelyn Goodrow, Director of Nursing at OncoLogics,. Joan McCarthy of Acadiana’s Susan G. Komen Affiliate, Travis Tolbert – Certified Personal Trainer of Miles Perret Cancer Services, and Rebecca Donahue, NP. Several area agencies provided information for attendees including OncoLogics, Inc., Miles Perret Cancer Services, Acadiana Chapter of Susan G. Komen, and the American Cancer Society.

“We are blessed to be able to host such an event,” stated Nichole Forstall, Chief Operating Officer for OncoLogics, Inc. “The Survivors seem to have enjoyed the brunch, and learned quite a bit about the issues that were presented. Most importantly, I think they all left smiling! We hope to provide similar programs in the near future to address some of the other questions this audience had, as well as issues that affect other cancer patients (such as prostate, lung and colorectal patients) and their families.”
